Growth Audit

A growth audit is a review of the entire path from demand generation through to closed revenue, identifying where the growth system leaks. Unlike a marketing audit, it spans marketing, sales, and retention, because the constraint on growth often sits outside marketing entirely.

Founders usually assume a growth problem is a marketing problem, and frequently it is not. The constraint might be a positioning gap, a sales process that loses winnable deals, or churn eating every new customer. A growth audit looks at the whole system rather than one function, because fixing the wrong part is expensive and changes nothing.

Example:

A business convinced it needs more leads discovers its real constraint is a 15% close rate on good opportunities. More leads would have changed nothing.

How is a growth audit different from a marketing audit?

A marketing audit reviews marketing. A growth audit spans marketing, sales, and retention, because the constraint on growth often sits outside marketing.

Why audit the whole system?

Fixing the wrong part is expensive and ineffective. Identifying the true constraint ensures effort goes where it will actually change the outcome.
